Students' expectations of Learning Analytics across Europe

Background Learning Analytics (LA) is an emerging field concerned with measuring, collecting, and analysing data about learners their contexts to gain insights into learning processes. As the technology of evolving, many systems are being implemented. In this context, it essential understand stakeholders' expectations LA across Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for large-scale implementations that take needs account. Objectives This study aims contribute knowledge individual European higher education students. It may facilitate strategy stakeholder buy-in, transfer HEIs, development international best practices guidelines. Methods To end, employs a ‘Student Expectations Questionnaire’ (SELAQ) survey 417 students at Goethe University Frankfurt (Germany) Based on data, Multiple Linear Regressions applied determine how these position themselves compared from Madrid (Spain), Edinburgh (United Kingdom) Netherlands, where SELAQ had already been implemented HEIs. Results Conclusions The results show students' rather homogeneous regarding ‘LA Ethics Privacy’ Service Features’. Furthermore, we found generally consistent pattern high degree similarity HEIs examined. face challenges more similar than anticipated. HEI experience implementing can be easily transferred other suggesting standardized tailor-made solutions designed scratch.
